Laurie Suzanne Brown

March 14, 1977 — August 19, 2021

Laurie Brown and her husband Scott Brown, both 44, passed away in a tragic accident in Arizona. Laurie was known for her kindness and thoughtfulness. She brightened the room with her sweet smile and cheerful spirit. She gave the most gentle and comforting hugs and was always concerned with the happiness of others. For Laurie, family was always her top priority. She grew up in a very close-knit family – her parents and siblings were a constant throughout her life. She enjoyed countless get-togethers and adventures with family and friends. Laurie was a loving mother and devoted wife. She met Scott on her first day on the UMBC campus. Laurie and Scott were married in 2002. They settled in Calvert County and were faithful members of Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. They have 3 beautiful children that they adored. After earning a bachelor’s degree from UMBC, Laurie started a 20+ year career with the Securities Exchange Commission as a compliance examiner. She conducted examinations of over 150 Investment Advisers and Investment Companies nationwide. She progressed to senior staff accountant with the Examiner Training Program. In 2010, she became a founding member of the SEC University where she was the learning officer for multiple offices. She received several awards for her work both as an examiner and as a Learning Officer. She was a treasured teammate who always jumped in to provide her colleagues with support wherever needed. Laurie and Scott enjoyed family trips to the beach, the lake and a variety of places across the US. Laurie’s children were the light of her life and meant the world to her. In addition to coaching a few sports teams, you could find Laurie cheering on her kids from the sidelines at every one of their games and all of their other activities. She is loved and admired by her family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. She will be especially missed by her dear children Lindsay, Ciara and Ryan; her parents, Patricia and Paul Trainor Sr. and her siblings: Tish Musselman, Lisa Kost and Paul "PJ" Trainor, Jr. and their spouses and children. The family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD on Friday, September 3, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
