Alice Rebecca Russell Owens, age 91 of Clinton, MD, formerly of Abell, MD joined our Heavenly Lord on 1 October 2023.
Alice Rebecca was born on 4 May 1932, the tenth child of the late John Robert and Mary DeBessie (Harden) Russell in Abell, St. Mary’s County, MD. Alice married the love of her life, William Frederick Owens, on 28 August 1949 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Avenue, MD.
Alice is survived by her daughters, Ann (Harold Lee) McCready, Joan Preslar of Mechanicsville, MD, Mary Smith of King George, VA, Brenda Ticer, and Pamela Owens. Alice is also survived by eight grandchildren: Karen Cross, John McCready, Kim McCready, Lynn Espinoza, Thomas William Preslar, Rick Burrows, Jr., Jonathan Burrows, and Charity Beck; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and very special friends Dave and Beverly Fry.
Alice enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed planting her many yearly flowers. Alice and her husband Fred enjoyed having summer gatherings at their home for family and friends.
Alice was a devout Catholic with an unwavering faith in God. Alice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
In addition to her loving husband Fred (who predeceased her on 25 January 2018) and her parents Alice was predeceased by two grandchildren Tabitha Burrows Abrams and William Patrick Ticer and her brothers and sisters: James Lawrence Russell, Agnes Madeline Langley, Theresa Dowell, Patricia Elizabeth McCready, and John Robert Russell, Jr.
Funeral services will be held in the Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Road, Clinton, MD on 13 October 2023. Viewing will be from 10 AM to 11 AM. Service will be on 13 October 2023 from 11 AM to 12 PM by Father James M. Stack. Christian burial will immediately follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf, MD.
Pallbearers will be John McCready; Thomas William Preslar; Rick Burrows, Jr., Jonathan Burrows; Lanny Chapman, III; and Pat Russell. Honorary pallbearer is Bobby Russell, III.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to either Catholic Charities or to a Cancer Research Center. Condolences may be made to the family at www.leefuneralhomes.com.
