Alma Barnes Ellwanger Central Intelligece Agency employee. Alma Barnes Ellwanger (79) Died December 19, 2004 at Southern Maryland Hospital Center. She lived in Clinton. Mrs. Ellwanger was born in Lexington, KY. She started he government career in 1946 with the Veteans Administration in Louisville, KY. She moved to the D.C. area in 1948 where she met and married her husband in 1950. She was employed by the Department of Commerce, the Navy Department and Department of the Army through July 1955. Mrs. Ellwanger was a C.I.A. staff and contract employee from 1955 to 1970 as she accompanied her husband to Japan, South Vietman, Thailand and Laos with duties including secretarial, finance and communications. Ater their retirement, Mrs. Ellwanger and her husband maintained a business selling antiques and collectibles at shows and exibitions, primarily on the East Coast with the trade name "Clinton Classics". She was a member of the Central Intelligence Retires Association and the American First Day Cover Society. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Edward E. Ellwanger. of Clinton, MD. Friends may call at the Lee Funeral Home Branch Ave. and Coventry Way Clinton, MD on Wednesday, December 22 from 1-3PM where service will be held at 3:00PM. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery Cheltenham, MD on Monday, December 27 at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to American Lung Association.
