Alvin T. Marks, “Al” 93, of Temple Hills, MD, died peacefully on August 16, 2015. Al was born in Washington, DC to the late Pearl and Lorin Marks. A devoted family man, Al was the beloved husband of the late Marie Marks. Together they celebrated 67 years of married life. Al was a devoted father of six children, Sister Joyce Marks, IHM, of Clinton, MD, Ron (Christy Bidstrup) Marks of Fairfax, VA, Tom (Aly) Marks of Duncan, SC, Brenda Young of Manassas, VA, Cindy (Rick) Tanenbaum of Potomac, MD, the late Debbie Lough, 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his only sister, the late Shirley Dowdy. A hard worker for over 50 years with AT&T and its predecessors, Al started out as a telephone lineman and ended his career as the telephone company’s communication consultant for the US State Department. He was passionate about many things in life, most importantly his family, summer vacations and holidays. He was a gifted saxophonist, and a collector of antique trains. He loved history and considered himself a civil war buff. He will be truly missed by all and his memory will live on in the lives of those he loved.
