Andre James Lucas, Sr. (Pop-Pa) of Forestville, MD passed away on August 10, 2021 at the age of 67. He was born on September 24, 1953, to the late Florita (Penn) Lucas and the late Clifton Lucas in Washington, D.C. He departed his earthly body and entered into his eternal home on August 10, 2021. Andre was preceded in death by his sister Betty Ann Lucas. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 30 years Eulalee Lucas; son, Andre J. Lucas, Jr. (Philicia); daughters, Andrea Lucas and Cikeithia Ford (Marcus); seven grandchildren, Keith J. Butler, II, Ronald B. Ford, III, Andre Coleman, Allegra Coleman, Gabriel Coleman, Brandon Lucas, and Reginald Fletcher; great-grandfather, Keith J. Butler, III, and Kali Lucas; and a host of cousins and friends. Andre was a native Washingtonian and received his education in D.C., public schools. He graduated from Frank W. Ballou Senior High School in Southeast, Washington, D.C. After graduation, he worked at Greater Southeast Physical Therapy Center and later found his career home with American Airlines at Ronald Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Virginia. In his youth, he had a love for karate, music, and photography. Within his love for music came the birth of the band Experience Unlimited (E.U). Andre was known for playing the congas but also had a love for the guitar and singing with the band. He always loved taking photographs which later translated over to him starting his own photography company “All About You Videography and Photos.” Andre loved the simple things about life. Sitting on the porch in the backyard with a nice drink listening to jazz music. Going to his childhood home in North Carolina and walking barefoot in the yard. Working (or rather fighting) on his ‘73’ Grand Prix and being your neighborhood-friendly mechanic. He also loved tinkering on the computer perfecting his photography craft and adult gadgets like remote control cars and drones. Andre mostly enjoyed the beauty that life’s environment had to offer. He would take relaxing and peaceful trips to some of the most beautiful scenes life has to offer, He would capture some of these moments with the lens of his camera to later be shared with family and friends. Andre was a loyal, caring and firm man blessed with many things in life from childhood friends Rufus Lassiter, Dr. Eugene Mckenzie, Cleveland Battle, and others to “taking a ride” with his wife to the water's edge; all of which are treasured memories linked together through one great man. Among the many things he leaves behind for his family, he leaves the strength to stand tall, the courage to keep fighting, love and happiness to share with the world, and to be brave when facing your fears. Andre will be missed dearly. Family will receive guests at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Road, Clinton, MD 20735 on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., immediately followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, MD 20735 at 1:30 p.m.
