.Ann(a) Marie Goldsmith, age 100, was born in Washington D.C., at the stroke of midnight on August 10, 1916, to Francis E. Montgomery and Elizabeth A. Judge. She was predeceased by her beloved Husband, Willard Leroy Goldsmith, Jr., her Sister, Helen T. Daniels, and Brothers, Francis J., and Harry J. Ann graduated from St. Martin’s Catholic Grade School in 1932 and Eastern High School in 1936. Following her graduation from Eastern, Ann went to work for the Chesapeake & Potomac Phone Company as an information operator. She married Bill on April 18, 1942. Their family gathered for a party last April to celebrate their 74th wedding anniversary. Ann worked as a clerk at the National Geographic Magazine from 1957 until 1960. In 1961 she became a secretary and supervisor in the Registrar’s office at the University of Maryland, in College Park. From 1972 to 1975, she was employed by the U.S. Justice Department as a legal secretary. She later worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for John M. Myers Feed Company in Upper Marlboro, until she retired in 1986 at the age of 70. Ann had been a parishioner at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church since moving to Upper Marlboro in 1971. She as a Life Member of the American Legion Post 206 in Chesapeake Beach, MD, and a long-time member of the Marlboro Meadows Civic Association. She is survived by her Sons, Willard L. (Janice) and Francis E. (Kathleen), and Daughter, Elizabeth J. Day; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A viewing will take place on Tuesday, April 18th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Road, Clinton, MD 20735. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, April 19th at 11 am at the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 14908 Main Street, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772. Interment will follow at Cheltenham Veteran Cemetery In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake 9500 Arena Dr. # 250 Largo, MD 20774
