Annice McGraw Wenger was born in Zellwood, Florida on December 1, 1919 to Thomas Daniel and Ruth Gardner McGraw. She had one brother, Gardner. Annice moved to the Washington area when she was 19 years old and eventually met and married Nelson Edward Wenger. She worked for the Treasury Dept. and the Census Bureau. Family was very important to Annice and her extended family brought her great joy. Annice was a loving mother to Thomas (Kathy) and Gary (Kathy), a sweet grandmother to Michelle Hodgkins (Mike), Kristen Albrittain (Michael), Erin Anderson (Ben), and Garrett Wenger. She was thrilled to be the great-grandmother of Hannah and Nathan Albrittain and Molly Anderson. Annice made beautiful quilts, crocheted crafts and afghans, and baked delicious cookies, being sure to send tins of cookies home with family members. She loved working in her garden and raising beautiful flowers. She cared for animals as she cared for her family, spoiling the cats who found a little slice of heaven when they showed up on her doorstep. Annice loved being a part of the Bell’s United Methodist Church Community, to which she belonged for more than 60 years. She was active in the bake sales, bazaars and the United Methodist Women. Annice passed away on May 12, 2016, at the age of 96, at Sunrise Assisted Living facility in Silver Spring, Maryland, where she was lovingly cared for by the dedicated staff. She will be missed by all who knew her.
