Anthony L. Bowen (“Tony”), 43, of Clinton, Maryland passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016, surrounded by family and friends who loved him dearly. His passing was very unexpected. Tony was born in Takoma Park, Maryland, but lived most of his live in Clinton. After high school, Tony enlisted in the U.S. Navy to begin his pursuit of a career as a fireman. He served his country for four years and eight months before being honorably discharged due to a service-related disability. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Tony’s only true passion was firetrucks and becoming a firefighter so as to help others, which he was able to do for many years at the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department. He loved his Miami Dolphins football team and Washington Capitals hockey team, as well as going to any car race with his sister. But his children were his everything – all three of them. He always did what he thought was best for them. He was the most wonderful father. Tony is survived by his parents Hersel and Linda Bowen of Clinton, Maryland. Devoted father of Sara Bowen, Kyle Freeman, and stepson C.J. Maude. Loving brother of Angela Wood (Billy) and Andy Bowen (Tammy). Cherished uncle of Tara, Taylor, Tabitha, and Tawnie Wood and Drew Bowen. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Tony all being directed to: Clinton Volunteer Fire Department, 9025 Woodyard Road, Clinton, MD 20735 to assist the family with funeral expenses.
