Arnold N. Brown

December 18, 1942 — June 2, 2015

Arnold Nelson Brown “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” - John 14:27 Our beloved Master Sergeant Arnold Nelson Brown was suddenly taken from the midst of our lives at Walter Reed Hospital to ascend into eternal life to be with his heavenly father on June 2, 2015. He was born to the late Clarence Brown and Helen (Quill) Brown on December 18, 1942. Arnold was introduced by his parents to Jesus as his Lord and Savior as a young man, and he has affirmed his faith through the years. Arnold Brown received his education in Baltimore City public schools. He attended Carver Vocational – Technical High School. While at Carver he played linebacker & guard in football and 1st base on the baseball team. He graduated high school in 1961. Arnold’s enthusiasm and curiosity about the world led him to join the United States Air Force in July 1961, where his main concentration was Technical Communications and Logistics. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. His duty included an assignment to the United States Postal and Courier Service in Bangkok, Thailand. It was during that assignment that he met his future wife. Arnold united in holy matrimony to Pene Upairsai of Bangkok Thailand in 1970. Out of this divine union there were born three lovely children: Tanya, Nesia and Gary. He loved his children and was a very proud father. He and his family returned to the United States to settle at Bolling Air Force Base in 1974 and relocated to Andrews Air Force Base where he then retired in 1987. He then continued his government service with the Department of Defense, and completed his work in 2002. It was then when Arnold faced up to the beginning of his long battle with kidney failure. His fight lasted over 27 years with various procedures and dialysis. He never once complained. His will to live depicted his courage, braveness, unselfishness, and sheer determination to survive for his family. Arnold was proud of his years of service to his country, and was proud of his grandson Mark Brown - United States Secret Service. Arnold was a lover of sports and history and was a great conversationalist on current events. He would watch sports daily, particularly football, and talk about it for hours. His passion to win showed through many victories as he coached the senior league football team at Bolling Air Force Base 1980-1983. Arnold was a diehard Colts fan too. Arnold’s often time’s serious demeanor was only a facade for his warm and giving heart. He was admired by the kids of the community as MR. BROWN. His smile and thoughts were very endearing. Although a man that spoke not a lot, his wisdom and knowledge will be forever respected and remembered. He developed friendships during his battle with kidney disease, and he was encouraged by the presence and long talks with his friends and neighbors and often flaunted on the inspiration he received from his “Big” brother James Brown. Arnold leaves to cherish his memory; wife Pene; three children Tanya, Nesia & Gary Brown. One grandson- Mark Brown. . Siblings - oldest brother James Brown, sisters - Bernice Lawrence, Paulette Brogden & Barbara Brown. Two brothers-in-law Jimmy Lawrence & Donald Brogden. One sister-in-law Orpha Brown and a host of nieces & nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Kenneth Brown & sister Delores Belton and brother-in-law James Belton. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Arnold N.
