Avner “Jim” Young, of Bryans Road Maryland transition on August 17, 2018 at the age of 80. Born in Lake Charles Louisiana to Alice Daniels and Avner Young. Avner was raised in Texas. After high school, he was inducted into the US Army in 1961. Avner stay in the military spanned over two decades, working in the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, services rendered as a member of the Photograph Division, helping make it possible to produce superior photographic illustrations and to further advance the reputation of the Medical Illustrations Service. He was honorably discharged in September 1982. Jim was a people person, never knowing a stranger, always imparting nuggets of wisdom, comfort, spiritual guidance, and support to family and anyone the crosses he path. After retirement from the Army, he held various jobs. He was appointed by the Prince George’s County Executive to the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners for two 3-year terms. He was involved in many multilevel marketing businesses. He loved to talk and joke. He was an avid game show connoisseur, his favorites were “The Chase and Family Feud” along with his nightly card games on the iPad. Beloved husband and companion for 36 years of Jacqueline “Jackie” Young; devoted father of Sharon Young-Hawkins (Samuel) of Suitland, MD, Avner Young Jr. (Sharon) of Crowley, LA, Pamela Williams of Orlando, FL, Bridget Sheldon of Atlanta, GA, Charles Robinson (Monica) of Hanover, MD, Bonnetta Williams (Philip) of Bryans Road, MD; dear brother of Selena Baker and Lillie Carter both of Detroit, MI. Also, survived by 10 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.
