Barbara “Jane” Patterson, 92, of Lexington Park/Deep Creek Lake, passed away on December 4, 2023. She was born February 20, 1931 in Washington, DC, the daughter of the late George Nicholas Graner Sr. and the late Thelma Madeline Ireland Graner.
Jane graduated St. Patrick’s Academy 1949, in Washington, DC.
Jane married George “Pat” Patterson October 31,1949, and enjoyed the next 63 years together until his passing in 2012, raising five wonderful children Ron (Bev), Betty Ann Hoza (John), Rick (Mary), Jeannie Carr (Mike) and Tom (Kim). She was blessed with 15 grandchildren (Kelley, Ricky, Eric, Owen, Lauren, Erin, JK, Theresa, Nina, Tom, Brittany, Chris, Chad, Angela and Melissa) and 16 great grandchildren. Also survived by many cousins, nephews and nieces but especially Joanne who would visit often to play Scrabble and make silly faces (memes) on her phone and laugh together.
Her love and kindness for children has always been a priority in her life. She always had her arms open for a hug and showed kindness to everyone with a warm smile.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Jane was preceded in death by her siblings George N. Graner Jr., James W. Graner, Joseph P. Graner, Doris “Jackie” Smith, brother-in-law Robert Smith, sister-in-law Sr. Rose Imelda SSJ, son Ron, and granddaughter Theresa.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 12,
2023, from 11:00 am to Noon prior to Funeral Mass at Noon at Jesus Divine Word Catholic Church, 885 Cox Road, Huntingtown, MD 20639. Celebration of Life with lunch will follow the Mass at the Church Hall.
