Barbara B. Tucker

Barbara B. Tucker of Lusby, Maryland passed during the evening of Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at the age of 82. Born in November of 1938 in Washington DC, to Rose and Maurice Byrnes. Barbara grew up in Takoma Park and attended Georgetown University. Barbara met Albert Tucker Jr. at a social function in Mayo, Maryland. Soon thereafter, the couple married in January 1958. They raised two sons, Butch, and Denny and two daughters, Beth, and Ellen. After 25 years together, Albert passed in 1982. During their life together, Barbara cared for her children, her home and her husband. A devout Catholic, Barbara served as Secretary of the Monsignors, at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in NE Washington, DC. After 20 years of service, Barbara retired as the epitome of a servant-leader of faith, family, and friends. She then accepted a positon as Administrator St. Luke’s Healthcare Facility. Barbara loved the beach and believed that the ocean was best appreciated from a beach chair with a book. She had a vacation home where family gathered for many summers, love and memories were shared in abundance. Barbara loved her family and friends. She had a wide circle of people who adored her for her kindness, grace, and joy. She was a wise, wonderful mother and grandmother. Barbara, a great cook, kept a flourishing garden for beauty and cooking ingredients. She frequently read mysteries by Thomas Clancy and Sue Crafton and challenged herself with the daily crossword. She enjoyed doing puzzles with her grandchildren. Beloved wife of the late Albert L. Tucker, Jr; Devoted mother of Albert L. Tucker III “Butch” (Cheryl) of Lusby, MD, Elizabeth Rose Minovitz “Beth” (Michael “Mickey”) of Huntingtown, MD, Dennis Ehrlich “Denny” (Sherry) of Edgewater MD., and the late Eleanor Marie Tucker “Ellen”; Loving Grandmother of Michelle Ann Joyner, Lauren Ann Tucker, Rachel Lynn Tucker Paul (Marcus), Robert Michael Minovitz (Allison), Melissa Rose Minovitz, Michael Benjamin Minovitz (Kaylee), Rebecca Morgan Minovitz, Jana Michelle Gardner (Johnny) and Amanda Faith Hannon (Jake); Dearest Great-Grandmother of Alicia Danielle Joyner, Desiree Nicole Joyner, Kenneth Xavier Joyner, Olivia Grace Brean, Vincent Thomas Minovitz, Mya Rose York, Ryan Michael Minovitz and Thomas Benjamin Minovitz, Jessica Nicole Christian, Chase Christian, Elizabeth Brent and Jeremiah Corey Hannon; Great-Great Grandmother of Bryson Ali Joyner and Ivy Marie Joyner, Idrith and Izarray Christian. The family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Mass Christian Burial will be celebrated at Jesus the Divine Word Catholic Church, 885 Cox Road, Huntingtown, MD 20639 on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 10:00 AM.
