Ben F. Fauber USAF, MSGT (Ret)

Ben F Fauber, USAF, MSGT (Ret.) of Accokeek, MD, passed away on June 8, 2016 at the age of 69. Born in Espanola, NM, the son of the late Georgette Dorine and Benjamin Fauber. Ben grew up in Espanola, NM and graduated from NM Espanola High School. At the age of 19, Ben entered into active duty with the United States Air Force (USAF). After 26 years, his career military decorations included the Meritorious Service Medal, AF Commendation Medal, AF Organizational Excellence Award W/20LC, AF Outstanding Unit Award W/10LC, AF Good Conduct Medal W/1SOLC 3OLC, National Defense Service Medal W/1 Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal, AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon W/1SOLC 10LC, NCO PME Graduate Ribbon, Small Arms Marksmanship Ribbon and an AF Training Ribbon. While serving in the Air Force, Ben’s specialities were with Military Band Support. He also served in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. After his honorable discharge, Ben worked with US Recording and Southern Maryland Satellite. Ben met his wife, June, in 1971 at a party in VA. They were married in the Westernville United Methodist Church in Westernville, NY on March 29, 1975. In 1985, they moved from Bolling AFB with their two daughters, Bonnie and Sally, to Accokeek, MD and continue to live there. Ben enjoyed spending time golfing (with "creative" score keeping), reading numerous Science-Fiction (Si-Fi) books, listening to big band and jazz music, photography, gun collecting, and watching old westerns. Ben was proud of his career with the US Air Force Band, his wife becoming a Certified Lay Minister, but most importantly he was proud of his daughters. Recently, he was able to meet his first grandchild, a boy named Lincoln. Beloved husband of 41 years to June M. Fauber; devoted father of Bonnie Arlene Fauber of Oxon Hill, MD and Sally Lynn Lucas (James) of Chesapeake Beach, MD; loving grandfather of Lincoln Wesley Lucas; dear brother of Dixie Lou Fauber of Miami, OK; Bobbie June Markham of Albuquerque, NM; Helen Eileen McCann of Ailey, GA; Dave Thomas Fauber (Sara) of Moriarty, NM; Dean Wade Fauber (Mike Lechner) of Ailey, GA; Curtis Lynn Fauber of San Quentin, CA and the late Joe Allen Fauber; late Steven Lee Fauber; late Peter Karl Fauber; and the late Dale Lewis Fauber.
