With immense love and laughter, we celebrate the life of Bernadette Anne Brophy, fondly known as Anne. Born in 1939 at Garfield Memorial Hospital, she began her incredible journey as the eldest of two siblings to William and Bernadette Garner and her younger sister Mary Lee. She always had a knack for making connections, even if it took a date with Joey's cousin to find her perfect match in Edward Joseph Brophy Jr., with whom she shared over 63 spirited years.
Anne, a radiant soul, flourished as an X-Ray tech after her days at St. Cecilia’s Catholic High and Georgetown University. She spent nearly four decades illuminating the medical world with her expertise at Prince George’s Hospital Center and Bowie Health Center in Maryland, capturing snapshots of life's stories through X-rays.
Her love knew no bounds as a mother to Sharon, Mary (aka Dede), Chris, and Frank. Her family tree blossomed with nine grandchildren and eight adorable great-grandchildren, each a cherished chapter in her vibrant tale.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Anne's heart beat for volunteering at Birth Right and weaving quilts that cradled newborn dreams. She also adored all things chocolate! Her passion for movies was matched only by her enthusiasm for water aerobics and those leisurely after-dinner strolls.
Ocean City also held a special place in her heart, where she and Joey traversed the boardwalk and beach creating cherished summer memories with their kids and grandkids. Anne's love for mystery novels and conquering word searches was only surpassed by her joy in gathering her beloved family around, especially during the holiday season. It’s fitting that she transitioned on a day she so often filled with love and feasts – Thanksgiving.
In her passing, Anne leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and unwavering love. Her spirit lives on in the smiles, memories, and shared moments that will forever echo through the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her. Cheers to a life well-lived, where laughter was abundant, love was endless, and joy was infectious. Rest in peace, our dear mother Anne.
