Betty Jo Fields

Betty Jo Fields, “Bo”, passed October 20, 2016 at her home in LaPlata, MD. She was born October 3, 1931 to the former Loren and Thelma Carter at their home in Danville, KY, the sixth of seven children. She married Gilbert E. Fields on December 10, 1952 in Pascagola, Mississippi. They remained married for 58 years until the passing of Gilbert in 2010. Betty began her career in 1959 at the Sears store on Alabama Avenue Washington, D.C. She later became the personnel manager and then moved to become the personnel director of the Washington Metro area. One of the first women to do so. In 1982 she became the Human Recourses manager for Sears World Trade in the Washington office. Upon the downsizing of Sears World Trade Division in 1986 she moved to Washington’s Richmarr Construction Corporation as the Vice President of Human Resources until her retirement in 1994. She is survived by her son Mark Fields and his wife Suzanne. Her grandchildren Jennifer Goddard and her husband Leonard, David Fields and his fiancée Megan Henneman. Her Great Grandchildren Evan and Hanna Leszczynski and her step Granddaughter Danielle Lubin. Also her sisters Peggy Atkins and Mary Lee Jones.
