Betty Anne Nesky, 85, of Clinton, MD passed away on December 2, 2016. Betty was born on February 13, 1931 in Vero Beach, Florida to the late “Mac” McAfee and Fannie Sheffield McAfee. Betty was an attentive mother of three boys. Earlier in her life, she thrived in her work as an Administrative Assistant at the former Gibbs Shipyard. She met and married Tony Nesky, a Navy pilot, and became the consummate Navy wife. She instantly took to this new role, caring for the Squadron’s family as if they were her own, and continued this practice throughout her husband’s Navy career. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Sorority for more than 50 years, and took great pride and joy in their sisterhood. Over the years, she enjoyed many different hobbies: arts and crafts, baking, Little Theatre, singing, travel, and collecting dolls. Betty is survived by her husband, Anthony Nesky, Jr.; three sons, Anthony B. Nesky, John K. Nesky, and Michael C. Nesky; a brother, Jackson K. McAfee, two grandchildren, Nicholas and Meagan Nesky, as well as nieces and nephews. A viewing will take place on Monday, December 12, 2016 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Road, Clinton, MD 20735. There will be a private funeral service. Interment will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Melwood Horticultural Training Center, 5606 Dower House Road, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772, an organization that advocates for and empowers individuals with differing abilities, and that has been instrumental in her son Michael’s life. www.melwood.org
