Betty Agnes Selby Ripple, age 95 of Cheltenham, Maryland passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018. She was born to Frank W. "Pop" Selby and Agnes Murray on December 6, 1923. Betty graduated from Surrattsville High School, Clinton, MD. She was part of the original team to set up the Environmental Protection Agency and was personally selected to work for former Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director, Donald J. Devine as his special assistant for her last government job. After 35 years in government service, she retired and took a job working for Carlson Travel Agency. One of the perks of the job she loved most, she was able to travel extensively and visited many countries. When she was fully retired, she moved to Orlando, FL where she learned to play golf - a game she truly loved. She was also quite the bridge player accumulating many "wins" under her belt at the community weekly bridge game. After more than twenty years in FL, Betty moved to the Fairfax Assisted Living in Fort Belvoir, VA. There she was active in the bridge group and loved going to the movie, concert, and lecture series. Betty is survived by her four children , Karen (David) Hill of TN, Robert (Michelle) of Woodbridge, VA, Betty (Gary) Church of Green Cove Springs, FL, and Bill (Donna) of Fulton, MD.her grandson, Michael (Wendy) Morgan, great grandson, Mikey Morgan of TN, granddaughter Carolyn Ripple of Denver, CO. great grandson Matthew McGrane and two granddaughters, Kelly & Julia Ripple of Fulton, MD. and her brother, Richard Selby of Myrtle Beach, SC. She is preceded in death by her son, Lawrence and her siblings, Mike Selby and Janet Hall.
