Betty Gordon Santucci Smith, 87, died peacefully Friday, September 18, 2015 at Fahrney-Keedy Home Village located in Boonsboro, MD. Born October 31, 1927 in Waxhaw, Union County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of John R. Cleve Gordon and Lola Mae (Courtney) Gordon. Betty was the wife of the late Anthony “Tony” Santucci, who passed in 2004. They were happily married for 32 years. For many years, she was employed and then retired from Acacia Life Insurance. Along with her husband Tony they also owned A-1 Limousine Service. During her later years, Betty worked as a hostess at Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, MD. She was an active and dedicated member of Oxon Hill Baptist Church, located in Oxon Hill, MD. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her “word find” puzzles. She also took pleasure in watching hummingbirds. In addition to her husband Tony, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 6 sisters, her son Teddy D. Smith, and her step-son Gary Santucci. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Mary Smith; step-children Danny Santucci, Joyce McCartin, Peggy Leonard, Jennine Cornell, and Bryan Santucci; 3 grandchildren; 19 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 22 step-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Lee Funeral Home on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 2 pm. A reception will follow at Oxon Hill Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oxon Hill Baptist Church, 6633 Saint Barnabas Rd., Oxon Hill, MD 20745.
