It is with great sadness and loving celebration as we say goodbye to our beloved Betty Frances Thomas. On Tuesday, May 15, 2018, Betty, treasured wife of Richard E. Thomas, passed peacefully in the presence of her family at 96 years of age to be with the Lord. She was predeceased by her sister Colleen McDonald. She was the devoted mother of Linda R. Felter and Brian A. Felter, Grandmother of Kiersten BF. Sanchez, Eric W. Felter, Thomas J. Canning III, and Cara M. Bassford. She was a loving step mother of Donna Stults and Susan Thomas. Betty was born Betty Frances Kintner to Jack and Elizabeth Kintner in Champagne, IL, where she was raised and graduated high school. After graduation she moved with her parents and sister Colleen to Hyattsville, MD. There she met and married Walter T. Felter in 1943 and where her children were born and raised. Both of her children stayed in the area and also married and produced grandchildren. Both Betty and Walter were active members of the Lions Club for years and worked to help those with various types of eye problems and diseases. They were both members of the Woodlawn Christian Fellowship Church and were devoted to serving the Lord. Her beloved Walter passed away at the age of 74. Betty continued to be active in the church for the next 20 years. With the passage of time, Betty met Richard Thomas and they married in 1990 and embarked on a wonderful, loving life together over the last 27 years. Betty worked at Travelers Insurance Company for several years, then as the school secretary at Northwestern High School. Later, she worked as an administrative assistant in the Public Relations division at the Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD, retiring after seventeen years of service. Betty lived a very long and active life. She set an example of a devoted Christian Life for her friends and family. She will be terribly missed and in our hearts forever.
