On Thursday, 7 July 2022, Beverly Jean Redden of Bowie, MD passed away peacefully at the age of 83
surrounded by her loving family. Beverly was born in Toledo, Ohio on 25 June 1939 to Johnnetta Grant
Wingard and Henry B. Wingard.
Beverly grew up in Toledo, Ohio where she met and married her beloved husband Shelton Dennis
Redden. Being a military family, they traveled all over. She worked a variety of jobs and eventually
retired from the Lake Arbor Golf Course in Bowie, MD where she was proud to serve over 20 plus years.
Beverly was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, sister-in-
law, and friend to many. Together with her husband Shelton they had five children; Shelley, Anthony,
Shelton, Tracy and Miles. They were her pride and joy and always brought a wonderful smile to her
face; she loved her family with no bounds. Beverly shared with her husband Shelton, a deep
appreciation for a Good Cup of Coffee, Western Movies and Good Jazz.
Those that knew her know that she enjoyed cooking and the holidays. She decorated their home
every holiday and always had baked goods for those who stopped by. Beverly was passionate about
Under Privilege Children and every year at Christmas she was in charge of the Maryland Grand Lodge
Children’s Christmas Party which is now known as the “Beverly Redden Children’s Holiday Party”.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Shelton, her daughter Shelley,
brothers Billy Wingard, Juan Wingard and Marvin Wingard, sisters Marilyn Boyd, Connie Hughes and
Renee Wingard. She leaves behind; 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
The Family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, MD on 21 July 2022 from 11:00 to
12:00 noon followed by a Celebration of Life and Repass until 3:00. Internment at Arlington National
Cemetery in Arlington, VA will be private and held at a later date.
