Bob White Bennett, 75, of Waldorf Maryland died peacefully at home on October 30, 2024, after a continuous battle with cancer.
Bob was born June 14, 1949, in Washington D.C., and was an only child. He was an alum of Suitland High School (Class of ’69) and was a hard working and loving husband and provider. He made a career sailing the world in the U.S. Navy as a Boatswain Mate. After meeting Joanne in 1991, he then began working as a Civil Servant for the U.S. Navy, retiring in 2014. Bob’s Protestant faith, strong belief in God and the love of family were pivotal to him. He loved life and cherished every moment of it including being a Redskins fan, beaches, cruises, and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Joanne Hudson Edwards Bennett (May 2024), and parents Bob White Bennett Sr. (1966) and Mary Emma Sharper Bennett (2021). He is survived by a Stepson, Raymond Edwards III (Debbie) and a Stepdaughter, Sherry Hosty (Brian), 6 Step Grandchildren, Shannon Howdyshell (Trey), Austin Edwards (Angelina), Tyler Edwards (Jessica), Patrick Hosty (Nicole), Rachel Walters (James), and Megan Hosty as well as 4 Step Great Grandchildren, Brynn Howdyshell, Charlotte Williams, Weston Howdyshell, and Alexandra Hosty. He also is survived by many cousins and lots of friends.
There will be a private Committal service at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery Chapel at a later date culminating with a private interment where Bob will reunite with his Joanne for all eternity at site N4-273.
