Brenda J. Lore of Ft. Washington, MD passed peacefully on June 1, 2018 at the age of 77. Born in Williamsport, PA the daughter of Violet Bartlett Pentz and John Pentz. Brenda grew up in Montgomery, PA one of ten children. If you met Brenda, you would never forget her. She showered every person she met with kindness, inviting them into her big heart. While outspoken at times, Brenda was warm and had a friendly smile and outgoing personality. She was ambitious, full of life and love for her family and friends. Brenda attended schools in Montgomery, PA. It was at a country square dance that she met the love of her life, Wayne. They had a two year courtship before marrying on June 4, 1960, professing their love and devotion before family and friends. During that time, Wayne was in the US Navy. He had informed Brenda that if she was going to be a Navy wife, she had to learn to drive. It was during that period of her life when she learned how to be a Navy wife with a happy life, despite being miles away from Wayne. After multiple deployments, many moves, and 7 children later, Brenda and Wayne finally placed their roots in Ft. Washington, MD. Brenda was content with raising her family and achieving direct accomplishments of her own. When the children were growing up, she loved to sew and make clothing for them. Sunday’s were spent trying to get her children to Sunday school and Church. In the fall Wayne and she would watch NFL Football. “GO REDSKINS!!!!”. Summer evenings were passed by playing cards with the children, especially Rummy. Brenda was so approachable, friends of her children often called her their “second mom”. Discovering her own spark, she often reworked her own definition of love that always revolved around her family. She held the center of her family together when Wayne was away. Life without Wayne was akin to how the sun holds the center of the solar system. She was the gravity. But when Wayne returned, he was her sun. One of the hardest lessons of being a Navy wife was being separated from Wayne. But he taught her the lessons of independence early in their relationship. Brenda also loved to bake and cook. Her baked beans, Navy bean soup, spaghetti sauce, Magic Bars and peanut butter fudge will be missed. Beloved wife of 58 years to Wayne L.
