Bruce Murden Swinford

Bruce Murden Swinford passed away August 9, 2022 at his home. He was born in Mobile Alabama on July 4, 1949 to Ethel and Ralph.

Growing up Bruce played Little League baseball, participated in bowling tournaments, collected stamps and coins, rode motorcycles, was an ace at winning the biggest prizes at county fair arcades, and enjoyed raising and playing with the family pets (birds, guinea pig, dogs, fish).  With money earned at various part-time jobs he acquired and drove a 60’s muscle car and later a classic corvette in high school and college, often with a cute girl in the passenger seat holding a very large stuffed animal (won at the county fair, of course).

Bruce lived in Alabama, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, California and Wyoming. He was well traveled throughout his teen years.

Bruce attended Southern Illinois University and the University of Maryland, getting a business degree. Shortly after graduation Bruce married the love of his life, Judy. They both enjoyed traveling, in particular taking cruise ships for extended vacations. Bruce and Judy took great pride in raising her daughter and celebrating Ashley's activities and milestones.

Bruce loved every moment spent with his grandchildren, taking them to museums, hunting for treasure, going on walks, and celebrating their grandchildren’s milestones.

He was preceded in death by his mother Ethel, father Ralph.

He is survived by his wife Judy, daughter Ashley, son in law Giorgio, grandchildren Giorgio, Juliana, and Nicholas, brothers Douglas and Craig.

The family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home Calvert 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm., where a Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 12:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens Cemetery 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Road, Waldorf, MD 20601.
