Carlton Joyce Wyvill, 81 died peacefully at his home in Upper Marlboro on Friday, December 30, 2016, after a long illness. He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Shirley (Stallings) Wyvill; his five children, Carrie Kidwell (Charlie), Brenda Reynold (Steve), Mary Catherine Philpott (Carl), Donna Seger (Glen), and Carlton Wyvill Jr. (Ana); his sister, Lucille Wyvill Gwynn; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Carlton was predeceased by his daughter, Linda Wyvill Hobbs, and his brother, Charles J. Wyvill Jr. Carlton was born on October 22, 1935, in Washington, DC, the second of three children to the late Charles J. and Carrie Wyvill. He was a lifetime parishioner at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, which his grandfather helped to build. He attended elementary school at St. Mary of the Assumption School and graduated from Frederick Sasscer High School. Carlton and Shirley married on November 2, 1957. He was a lifelong tobacco and cattle farmer. Early on, he enjoyed all types of hunting and fishing, riding around on Sundays in his pickup truck, and comparing his crops to other farmers’ crops. Later in life, he enjoyed playing cards on Tuesday nights with his sister and other family and friends. He also enjoyed riding around on his golf cart, looking at the farm and his cattle, and getting together with family and friends for different occasions.
