Carol Lee Shutz

Carol Lee Shutz, 72, of St. Leonard, MD passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Calvert Memorial Hospital, Prince Frederick, MD. Born, May 5, 1949 in Baltimore, MD to parents, Earl Ray Hartsell, Sr, and Helen Frances Nutter; stepfather, Edward Wittman, Sr. Carol grew up in Pasadena, MD and attended Severna Park High School where she met her husband, Joe, and they were inseparable ever since. They celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary in August of this year and celebrated 57 years together. She attended nursing school and graduated in 1969. Carol was an RN for 50 years and worked at various hospitals and settings, but her favorite was being a labor and delivery nurse at Calvert Memorial Hospital. She helped bring countless babies into this world and give comfort and strength to so many. Carol was a devoted Wife, Mother, and Nana whose favorite way to spend time was with her family. She loved to travel with her husband, Joe, and spend time at their home enjoying the outdoors, working on projects, gardening, sewing, and of course making the most delicious food. Her love for her grandbabies was unmatched and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. No words can express the love her family has in their hearts for her. Carol is lovingly remembered by her husband Joe; children Amanda Brune, Matthew Shutz, and Kara Wisniewski, son in law’s Andrew Brune and Casey Wisniewski; grandchildren Ava, Mason, Keagan, and Cale; Siblings Earl Hartsell Jr, Linda Hall (deceased), Darlene Powers (deceased), Ed Wittman, Jr, along with sister in law’s Lynn Wittman, Donna Hartsell, and Susan Winterbottom as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. A Memorial gathering will be held at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm where a Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be private.
