Carolyn Louise Hancock was born March 17, 1952 in Southern Pines, North Carolina to Louise H. Polk, North Carolina. She was the oldest of eight children born to Louise Polk. Carol credits and cherished her step-father, Sergeant Major Earnest J. Polk, Sr. for his love and devotion to God and his family, inspiring her to see the good that life has to offer. On June 1, 1976 she married Gerald Wooten of Sarasota, Florida. Gerald joined the United States Air Force and together they enjoyed life in wedded bliss as a 20-year military family, living throughout Europe and the United States. Their union produced their only son, Joel Lane Wooten in May of 1980. Carol was a dedicated homemaker, loving wife and mother. She is preceded in death by their infant daughter who died at childbirth on October 22, 1978 in Ipswich, England, United Kingdom; her mother, Louise Polk; step father, Earnest J. Polk, Sr.; brother, Earnest J. Polk, Jr.; grandparents, Mr. Dolly Page and Ms. Mae Bell Hancock. Her surviving family whom will always cherish her memories are her husband, Gerald Davy “Ricky” Wooten; Son, Joel Lane Wooten; Sisters, Jean Cooper-Evans, Anne Unikirchen, Theresa Sellers, Patrice Edmond, Bridgette (Lauriel) Trotman and brother, Kenneth Polk; Sisters-in Law, Marcia Wooten Page and Kathy Wooten Young; Brothers-in-Law, Handy Wooten Jr. and Stanley Wooten and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
