Carrie Mildred Hitch departed this life the morning of Monday, January 4, 2021. Born December 8, 1930, in Somerset County, to the late Lavenia Gillette King and Ollie King. She was one of six children: Ollie King, Jr., Edward King, Emmanuel King Mary (Cinderella) Brown, and Sara Williams, all preceding her in death. Carrie was raised in the Holiness Church in Somerset County and maintained a strong faith in God throughout her life. She worked as a nursing assistant for many years and enjoyed caring for people. In her early years, she enjoyed boating, fishing, singing, and dancing. She was an avid reader of the Bible and books related to herbal medicine and natural remedies. Carrie was a strong willed person with a zest for life. She was the loving wife to the late Robert Lee Hitch, Sr., and had two children, Carolyn Allen and the late Robert Lee Hitch, Jr. After the death of her loving husband, Carrie moved to Upper Marlboro, Md with her daughter Carolyn Allen and late son-in-law, William Allen. She enjoyed spending time with her five (5) grandchildren, Donald (Annette) Wright, Venita Molina, the late Victor Wright, Kevin Hitch and Darnell (Marcella) Hitch; fourteen (14) great-grandchildren; and nine (9) great-great grandchildren sharing life lessons, wisdom, and in a gentle way, snooping about in their business. She loved being in “the know”. She also leaves to cherish her memory, daughter-in-law, Melinda Hitch and children, several nieces, nephews, and friends.
