CATHERINE “CATHI” FITCH HARRIS, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at her home in Fort Washington, MD surrounded by her family and close friends. We are trusting and standing on God’s word, that he has prepared a place in Heaven for Cathi to rest peacefully. Cathi, the second of five children, was born on January 24, 1948, in Charlottesville, VA to the late Plummer Lewis and Etta Brown Fitch. She received her diploma from Jackson P. All who knew Cathi, knew she was eagerly dedicated to her staff as well as the events and exhibits for 42 years with the Smithsonian Institution, retiring in 2011. It was at Mount Eagle Baptist Church where Cathi accepted the Lord as her personal savior; however, it was Fort Washington Baptist Church where she decided to serve the Lord by participating in the Women’s ministry, Hospitality/Culinary ministry, Mass and Praise Choir. Outside of the church Cathi enjoyed volunteering for local politicians on their campaigns, traveling, cooking and spending time with family (specifically her grandchildren).
