Catherine Louise Pearson

Catherine "Cathy" Louise Pearson, of Frederick, MD, passed away suddenly in her home on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at the age of 56. Cathy is the daughter of John and Ena Pearson of Owings, MD. She was born in Washington D.C. on September 28, 1961. She grew up in Beltsville, MD and attended Beltsville Elementary School, Martin Luther King Junior High School and High Point High School, where she graduated in June 1979. She was a parishioner at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church and participated in CYO sports. Cathy completed technical training and went on to work as a computer specialist for many years at Coakley and Williams in Greenbelt, MD. In 1996, she moved to Frederick, MD and married Bert Myers. She gave birth to their son, Samuel in 1999. After their divorce, Cathy and Sam remained in Frederick. She was employed at Wells Fargo for 25 years as a loan officer, and took early retirement in 2017. Cathy’s main focus was her son Sam. She participated in all of his school and sporting events. They enjoyed taking the Metro into D.C., especially when Rolling Thunder was in town. For several years, she and Sam hung Christmas wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery. Cathy and Sam loved to watch football together – especially the Washington Redskins (though, in 2013 they did go to Baltimore to cheer on the Ravens at the Super Bowl parade). Cathy had many loves. She loved music, the beach, cooking, working out, blue crabs, fishing, motorcycles, Trivial Pursuit, and reading. But mostly, Cathy loved her family and friends. She was a kind, thoughtful, fun-loving gal. She never missed family gatherings and had a knack for remembering and articulating funny family stories. She was the crazy aunt who enjoyed playing with her many nieces and nephew. Cathy’s friends received the same dedication. She is remembered as someone who never missed special occasions, went out of her way to lend a helping hand, and always brought the laughter. Cathy is survived by her son, Sam Myers; her parents, John and Ena Pearson; her sister, Virginia Soboleski (Rob); brothers, John, Patrick, and Stephen (Karen) Pearson; nieces, Meghan Pearson, Kayla Scott (Ryan), Grace and Rose Soboleski, Katelyn and Ashlyn Pearson; and nephew, Patrick Pearson.
