“Nana”\n \nCathy was born in 1953 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Graham and Janet Houston. She was the oldest of four children. Cathy was raised in Detroit where she met her husband, her high school sweetheart, Brad. Cathy and Brad were married in 1972, shortly thereafter; Brad joined the Coast Guard which led to a life of travel. Janet, their oldest daughter was born in Detroit and Erin and Leslie, their youngest were born in Connecticut. \n \nIn 1990 the family moved to Bowie where they lived for 14 years before heading to Owings where they lived until Cathy’s passing. Cathy and Brad were members of Chesapeake Church. Cathy was a pediatric lactation Registered Nurse at the Bethesda Naval Hospital. She was known to many as “Nana.” She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and enjoyed camping. \n \nCathy is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Brad, their 3 daughters; Janet Suzanne (Kevin) Dick, Erin Marie (Kevin) Crain and Leslie Anne Shefka; her siblings, Barbara Leonard, Susan Szymanski and Mark Houston and 8 grandchildren; Kayla Crain, Mazzy Dick, Brooke Crain, Keaton Dick, Korbin Dick, Jacob Crain, Steven Shefka-Dunavant and Kellum Dick.\n \nA memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Chesapeake Church from 11:00 am to time of service at 11:30 am. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvert Hospice, P.O. Box 838, Prince Frederick, MD 20678.
