Catherine Lorraine Thompson, age 69 died peacefully Thursday, December 4, 2014 with her family by her side. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, who deeply touched the lives of all who knew her. Lorraine was born on September 29, 1945 in Washington, DC to parents Alton and Regenia Poctor. After graduating from Douglas Senior High School, she obtained a job at the local telephone company. Seeking career advancement, she later joined the Prince George’s County Police Department, working in the records department. She moved to Seat Pleasant Maryland where the job was located and stayed with the county for over 25 years. Lorraine enjoyed traveling, fine dining, attending church and spending time with her family. She was extremely philanthropic donating clothes and money to many organizations like St. Jude’s Hospital for Children and The Children’s National Medical in Washington, DC. She was an active member of the community volunteering many hours to different organizations and also with sodality at St. Margaret’s Parrish.Lorraine is survived by John Eugene Thompson; her mother, Regenia Proctor; her daughters, Christina Star Barber (Anthony), and Kimberlee Smoot (Marc);; 7 grandchildren, Shauntesia (Javan), Antonio (Antoniece), Marckiya, Marc, James (Carmen), Quashia, Marckayla; her 4 great-grandchildren Ahnaya, Jaden, Antonio Jr. and DaJuan Jr. ; her sisters, Judy (Lacey) and Patrice; her brothers, Bobby (Betty), Stanley (Ernestine) and Jerry; sister-in-law Dunreath; and a host of other family members and friends.
