Catherine Lillian Yost

Catherine Lillian Yost of Temple Hills, MD passed away peacefully on July 25, 2022. Catherine was born on December 2, 1926 in Washington, DC.  She was the only child of Charles and Gertrude Brown.  She attended Holy Name School and graduated from St. Patrick's Academy in Washington, DC.

She was married to the late Robert Yost.  They were married for nearly 40 years until his death in 1984. Catherine is survived by her children Cathy and David; grandmother of Jennifer Robertson, Melissa and Jonathan Yost, great-grandmother of Julian, Cora, Madelyn Yost, Parker Reid, Magnus, Penelope Robertson, and a lifelong friend Dorothy Caccamise who is 97 years old.

Catherine left her job at the Federal Government in 1955 when her second child Cathy was born to tend to her family and home.  For many years she kept in touch with her husband's shipmates and their wives whom she had met and lived near in Florida while her husband was In the Navy during WWII.  She and her husband attended many of the ship's reunions. In later years she cared for her aging parents.  She loved animals and her home had a succession of dogs and cats during the remainder of her life.

Relatives and friends may call at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 8908 Old Branch Avenue, Clinton, MD 20735 on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Washington National Cemetery.
