Chalice Oneil Ward

July 18, 1946 — January 22, 2022

Chalice O. Ward was born July 18, 1946 to Katherine T. Boswell and John Slater and resided in Deale, MD. She was blessed with a sister, Sharon Kay Brady whom she adored. Her fondest and most treasured memories of her youth were made while visiting and sharing life with her Aunt Betty (aka Mama Betty) and Uncle Paul Gordon (Graysville, TN) and her cousins, whom she always referred to as sisters, Betty Jean Blackburn, Kathleen Garrison, and Linda Bradshaw. It was in her kindergarten year, sharing lunch under a school yard tree, that she met a boy that would subsequently be the love of her life, future husband, and father to her children. Kenneth and Chalice were blessed with three children, Kenneth D. Ward, Jr, Kathy L. Ward, and Brian A. Ward and made their home in Owings, MD where they resided since 1975. Chalice had an entrepreneurial spirit that led her down many exciting career paths. She owned an antique business and many years later she owned a real estate company with her “Sissy” Susan Ballenger; however, it was her love of cooking and food service that was always her passion. Chalice had the sweetest of spirits and never met a stranger. She always accepted people as they were. Her unconditional love, nurturing, and kindness resulted in lifelong friendships and made a difference in the lives of others. Chalice passed away January 22, 2022. She was preceded in death by her mother Katherine T. Boswell; Sister Sharon K. Brady; and her husband Kenneth D. Ward, Sr. She is survived by her children -, Kenneth D. Ward, Jr (Robin); Kathy L. Wilkerson (Tommy); and Brian A. Ward. Grandchildren – Kristen (Gregg) Brunclik; Glenn Wilkerson (Makayla); Sarah K. Wilkerson, Ryan T. Wilkerson, Brian A. Ward, Jr; Sharon Ward; and Trent Ward. Great Grandchildren – Haylee and Madelyn Brunclik and Raegan and Kenneth Wilkerson. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother and GiGi. Forever loved, never forgotten. There will be a Celebration of Life service for Chalice; however, the date is to be determined at this time.
