Charles Ray Blankenbaker

The family of Charles Ray Blankenbaker is sad to announce he passed away surrounded by loved ones on June 14, 2023, at 63 years old. Charlie was born on Jan 19, 1960, to Mary Alice Draper, the late Frederick Jennings Blankenbaker, Sr. He was preceded in death by his brother Frederick Jennings Blankenbaker, Jr. and stepfather Eugene Davis.

Charlie grew up in Seat Pleasant, Maryland and graduated from Central High School where he played baseball, basketball and soccer. After high school Charlie attended San Jose State University. He was an active member of the Silver Hill Lions Club for many years. He most recently owned and operated Crown Fence & Custom Decks. In his spare time Charlie enjoyed boating, live music, playing golf, watching college lacrosse, and spending time with family and friends. Charlie especially loved rooting for and attending Redskins and Nationals games.

Charlie bravely battled brain cancer for over five years. He never gave up and fought hard to stay with his loved ones as long as he could. He is survived by his loving wife, Michele, son Theodore (Ted) Jennings Blankenbaker, stepson William (Billy) John Nolan, Jr., mother Mary Alice Davis, sister Deborah J. Pappas, brother George (Curt) Blankenbaker, his nieces and nephews, Heather, Uwe, Brittany, Hayley, Cayden, Gemma, Scarlett, his loyal dog Dexter, and many other cherished friends and family. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed dearly.

The family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home Calvert 8200 Jennifer Lane Owings, MD 20736 on Monday, June 19, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Prayers will be held at 6:00 pm followed by words of remembrance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church 1601 W Mount Harmony Road, Owings, MD 20736 on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 11:00 am. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake or the American Cancer Society.
