Charles Koeber,97, of Washington, DC. passed away on April 9, 2021. Born on January 20, 1924 in Washington, DC. to his late parents; Edward James Koeber and Mary Lambert Koeber. Charles was enlisted in the Army during the World War II. He worked at the Navy Yard as a Machinist. 1943-1946 Military Service U.S. Army, Heavy Equipment Specialist, assigned to combat engineers. He served in New Guinea, the Philippines and Japan as a squad leader with a rank of Tech-4. Charles returned to Torpedo Station and then to the United States Navy Yard. He was Honorably Discharged in March 1946. Decorations and Citations: Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star and World War II Victory Ribbon. Charles and Betty were married on May 28, 1960. Charles enjoyed playing softball; was on the "Barry's Bombers Team" with Senator Barry Goldwater. He also enjoyed playing golf, telling jokes, collecting Budweiser memorabilia and spending time with his friends and his loving wife. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty Cox Koeber and sister-in-law, Cathryn Cox (Bill). In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his brothers: Edward Jr and John.
