Charles Edward “Ed” Mudd, Sr., 82, of Brandywine, MD, died on Friday, February 12, 2016, at the Aspiring Community Services Assisted Living in Columbia, MD. He was born on January 24, 1934, and was the son of the late Bernard Albert Mudd, Jr. and Frances Alice (Mudd) Mudd. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy N. (Ingling) Mudd, his son, Charles Edward Mudd, Jr., and two brothers, Bernard Albert Mudd, III, and William Aloysius Mudd, Sr. Ed was employed in several positions over 47 years with the “Company” which included Firearms International Corp., Garcia Co-Operation, F.I.I. and Beretta U.S.A., where he retired in January, 1999, to another life style, “Retirement.” He was a life member of St. John’s the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Clinton MD. He was devoted to his Church and Faith as a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11171, the Holy Name Society, the St. John’s Senior Lunch Bunch and was an Usher/Greeter at the 8 a.m. Mass. He served his country for over 6 years in the U.S. Army in Germany, just outside the Berlin Wall in communications and in the United States in G2. He advanced in rank to Sergeant. Among his many hobbies and activities were collecting, the Civil War, drawing, and Scouting. Some of his collections included antique furniture, family items and history, belt buckles, coffee mugs, shot glasses, music tapes, old and new records, CDs videos, new and old books, tools, and Scout mementos and equipment. He spent many hours researching and volunteering 42 years as a Scout Leader, committee member, and Scoutmaster with Cub Pack 1268, Troop 1669, and Troop 1572. He also held many positions in the Order of the Arrow. In addition, he served on the Board of Directors for the Dr. Samuel A. Mudd’s Museum House and Farm and assisted with the gift shop and tours. He enjoyed visiting with his family, friends, and co-worker. He is survived by his twin sons, Joseph A. Mudd and his wife, Frances L. (Klock) Mudd, Pasadena, MD; and Jeffrey A. Mudd and his wife, Rita R. (Smith) Mudd, Belleville, KS; five grandchildren, Brandon N. Mudd, Pasadena, MD, Anthony J. Mudd, Pasadena, MD, Kayla J. (Mudd) Blazek, and husband Michael Blazek, Belleville, KS; Brandi G. Mudd, Manhatten, KS, and Katana S. Mudd, at home Belleville, KS; his brother, George W. Mudd, Clinton, MD; 8 nieces and nephews, and also great nieces, nephews and cousins by the dozen.
