Charlotte was born on April 29, 1930 in Sullivan, Indiana to the late Leo Phillips and Helen Cushman Phillips. She grew up on a dairy farm in Graysville, Indiana, attending Nurses Training in Indianapolis and enjoyed a civilian nursing career until she entered the USAF in order to see the world and see the world she did! Three of her favorite duty stations included Tachikawa, Japan, where she enjoyed her time as a Flight Nurse serving the Western Pacific, easily her favorite assignment of all times; Charleston, SC during which she traveled to Berlin, the Resi Bar; and South Ruislip, England where she enjoyed touring Europe. While stationed in London, she met and married her husband, Dennis also in the USAF and he took her on her dream trip of a tour of the Holy Land sites in the Middle East where she enjoyed touring sites like the Pyramids and Jerusalem. Charlotte continued her career as a USAF nurse until she had her daughter and it was mandatory to be discharged; she later finished her USAF career in the reserves and retired at the rank of Major. Following her time in the USAF, she continued to work as a nurse and most of all enjoyed her volunteer work including her time served as an Arlington Lady serving fellow military families and Red Cross Volunteer with working Medivac at Andrews (including Sunday evening, 11 DEC16, night before she passed). She also specially enjoyed working part time for the Accokeek Foundation at the National Colonial Farm where she truly felt at home. Charlotte is survived by her Husband, Dennis A.
