Cheryl "Sheri" Aronhalt Smith

Cheryl Aronhalt Smith died at home on February 4, 2025. She was born August 20, 1966, in Alexandria, VA, to Kay and Edwin Aronhalt. Sheri graduated from Capital Lutheran High School in 1984 and went on to graduate from Towson State University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Sheri spent her teaching career enjoying lesson planning and decorating her classroom with creativity and imagination.

More recently, she has loved her most important role as Namaw to Korra and Oliver Smith, her beloved grandchildren, as well as Chewy, her cherished furry granddog. Everyone that met her has heard stories about them and seen their pictures, and she would light up when talking about them. Sheri was also the primary caregiver for her father, and her absence is deeply felt without her cheerful chatter and laughter as she kept up with his daily routine.

Sheri was preceded in death by her mother, Kay Aronhalt; her grandparents, Lawrence and Eva Adams; her uncle, Lt. James Adams; and her aunt and uncle, Marcia and Doug Lawrence. She leaves behind her father, Ed Aronhalt; her son, Zachary Robert Smith (Lakin) of Annandale, VA; her sister, Susan Lynne Aronhalt of Palmyra, VA; and her beloved grandchildren, Oliver and Korra Smith.

A Celebration Life will be held at Life Church, 35 Cox Road, Huntingtown, MD 20639 on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 11:00 am.
