Chester A. Lanehart, Jr.

Chester A. Lanehart, Jr. “Chet,” age 74, of Suitland and Mechanicsville, MD, died on November 29, 2013. The beloved husband of Winifred for 54 ½ years; loving father of Tinya Blake and the late Chester A. Lanehart, III.; devoted grandfather of Mark Bobinger, II., Tabitha Couch, Tiffany Doyle, Thomas “Scooter” Blake, Krista Lanehart and Chester Lanehart, IV.; great grandfather of 5. Also survived by sisters Patricia DeWald of Goose Creek, SC, Dolores (Jack) Gregory of Bloomsburg, PA and many other relatives and friends. Chet served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and followed as a civilian Federal Firefighter at Andrews Air Force Base for 39 ½ years. He also served as President of the IAFF #297 for more than 30 years. After retirement he was the National VP of the NFFE for 4 years. He was very active in the communities of Prince George’s and St. Mary’s counties and spent time coaching the youth. Family and friends will be received at Lee Funeral Home, Inc. Branch Ave. and Coventry Way Clinton, MD on Sunday, December 8 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. where services will be held on Monday, December 9 at 12 noon. Interment to follow with military honors at Maryland Veteran’s Cemetery Cheltenham, MD.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lanehart Memorial Fund at PNC bank or a charity of one's choice.
