Christine Marie Barbieri (Schmidt), 75 of Mechanicsville, MD was taken home to be with the LORD on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. Christine was born in Washington, DC on October 20, 1946 to the late Margie H. & William C. Schmidt. Christine attended grade school at Mt. Calvary in Forestville, MD & was in the first graduating class of LaReine High School in 1964. She was married to John L. Barbieri in August 1965 and started her family in 1966. She is survived by two sisters, Claudia Smith & Jeanne Dove and her six children: Tracy Ann Shook (Ryan), John William Barbieri, Joseph Michael Barbieri, Marc Damian Barbieri, Tara Marie Walter (Craig) & Lauren Michele Suranno (Michael). Christine was a loving Granmommy to eight: Kelsey Marie, Alexis Noelle, Madison Brooke, Dylan Michael, Brooklyn Paige, Alyvia Christine, Sophia Grace & Vincent Antonio. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She has reunited with all her loved ones who left this world before her, including her fur-babies Peaches & Bubbles.
Christine was a devoted full-time Mother with many additional roles and worked several jobs over the years retiring in 2018. She was a Mom to many and a friend to all. She LOVED BIG- everyone and everything. In her presence, you were greeted with her big, beautiful smile and soft, gentle hug that would make your whole world better. She attended all events and celebrated every milestone, she was everyone’s biggest fan. She was a devout Catholic and member of the Red Hat Society with her LaReine Sisters. While raising her children, she was a cheerleading coach for the Prince Frederick Eagles and part of several craft clubs. Throughout her life, she thoroughly enjoyed baking, cooking, dress-making, bowling, reading romance novels, Hallmarking, visiting her favorite boutiques and tea rooms. Above all, her most enjoyable times were spent with family for birthday celebrations and holidays, with two of her favorites being Easter & Christmas. Christine’s greatest gift was making others feel special and loved. She was the epitome of GOD’s LOVE, and truly one of a kind with her humble & giving spirit, her loving heart, thoughtful nature and beautiful & kind soul. She always gave more than she received and never expected anything in return. She made the world a better place with her joyful presence and will be deeply and sadly missed.
Her last written words of wisdom: A little message to everyone, don’t take any little thing for granted ever, it could be gone in a second.
