Christine Marie Galante

August 16, 1950 — January 6, 2008

CHRISTINE MARIE GALANTE, Colonel, USA (Ret.) RN, PhD Christine M. Galante at the age of 57, was taken quickly and gently from this earth on January 6, 2008, and received into the loving arms of heavenly angels, singing �may peace be with you, as you are embraced by the serenity and beauty of Gods garden."Chris," was born in Washington, D.C., and the only daughter to George and Helen Dinnis. Chris and her husband, Sam Galante, have shared thirty-five years of a loving marriage, with most of those years spent in parallel medical military careers with the United States Army. Chriss career spanned twenty-eight years with the Army Nurse Corp. A brief snapshot of her professional experience included; being a Congressional Health Policy Fellow for the House Armed Services Committee, a Senior Health Program Analyst in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, and Deputy Chief of Staff for Regulatory Compliance and Quality at the Headquarters, U.S. Army Medical Research and Material Command, Ft. Detrick, MD., and Acting Chairperson for the Surgeon Generals Human Subjects Research Review Board.Following her exemplary military career; Chris chose a second career of professorial work in graduate nursing education, spanning almost ten years, between George Mason University and Marymount University. As Associate Professor, she served as Chair of the Graduate Nursing Program at Marymount University in the most recent years. Chris was instrumental in achieving review and approval of Marymount Universitys first Doctoral program, a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She also designed and taught several of the first RN to BSN program courses in a totally online format. Recently, Chris was awarded a Certificate in Teaching and Learning in a Web-based environment from Indiana University.Those who knew Chris, recognize that her contributions, while on this earth, have truly been a gift to all of mankind. Chris never wavered from the burdens of life and always asked more of herself, as she carried out Gods work on this earth.She has been quickly called �home by her Heavenly Father, to rest, until her next Command performance. May you be inspired by her spirit and love of all Gods creatures and beauty.Family will receive friends at the LEE FUNERAL HOME CALVERT, P.A., 8125 Southern Maryland Blvd. (Rt. 4 & Fowler Rd.), Owings, MD on Thursday, January 10 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Old Fort Chapel, Fort Myer, Virginia on Thursday, March 13 at 10:45 am followed by burial with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.
