On March 14, 2023, Claudia A. Ferris passed away peacefully. She began her life in San Francisco, California, born on July 8 to Howard and Geraldine Nicks. She graduated from Nathan Bedford Forrest High School and went on to enlist in the US Navy. She Was honorably discharged in 1968 and received the National Defense Service Medal during her time enlisted. She went on to meet and marry George E. Ferris on August 5th, 1968. She found a career with the Federal Government as a Secretary. She enjoyed her work and often would find pleasure in decorating for most of the holidays. In her neighborhood, she would have the active house with all the kids. She and George would often gather their family and go out on camping adventures. She is survived by her children, Robert Ferris, Thomas Ferris, Kelly Freeman, Christine Mauger, and Carolyn Dailey; grandchildren, Bryce Petitt, Shaina Ferris, Travis Ferris, Shelby Dailey, Caitlin Dailey, Emily Dailey, Ryan Dailey, and Sara Bloom; great grandchildren, Mason Ferris, Chase Ferris, Ashton Ferris, Sawyer Bloom, and Sullivan Bloom; and her brother, Ray Nicks. She was greeted in Heaven by her cherished husband, George E. Ferris.
Her family will be honoring her in a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 8816 Chesapeake Avenue, North Beach, MD 20714. Inurnment to follow at Maryland Veteran Cemetery in Cheltenham.
