Clementine Elizabeth Williams, 90 of Washington, DC, quietly stepped into the eternal life on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 9, 2017. Born in Washington, DC the daughter of the late Florence Petty Thomas and Charles Phillip Thomas. She was the last living child, predeceased by her brother the late Charles Thomas, and sisters, the late Elisa Mosley, Alma Patterson and Barbara Cecelia Thomas. Raised in Georgetown, Clementine attended and graduated from Cardozo Senior High School in northwest DC. It was known by many as “the castle on the hill” because of it iconic design. As a young upcoming opera singer, she also attended Howard University, School of Music. Clementine began working for the Department of State right out of school as a Personnel Management Specialist and continued to work for them for 39 years until she retired. It was there that she met and married Andrew R. Thomas. From that marriage, Robert and Dianne were born. She was widowed in 1956 when Mr. Thomas died from surgery complications. She later met and married Edward D. Williams in 1960 and together they had Daryl. Her second husband Edward, also predeceased her in 1978. In 1984 Clementine worked for the Hecht Co. and enjoyed working in the Better Dresses and Coats department in Marlow Heights Shopping Center. She retired in 2004. In addition to multiple careers, Clementine thoroughly enjoyed working for her church, especially with the Ways & Means Committee and the bus trips. She loved spending time with her sister and never turned down a shopping trip. She also enjoyed listening to music especially live concerts like Gladys Knight & The Pips. Survived by her children, Robert Lamont Thomas of California, Dianne Thomas-Beasley of Waldorf, MD and Daryl Charles Williams of Washington, DC; her grandchildren,, Michael Smith, Sr. and Brandon Beasley.; great-grandchildren India Smith, Michael Smith Jr., Jazmin Smith, Kayleen Smith and Breonna Beasley.
