Clyde F. Kehler, 96, of District Heights, MD passed peacefully June 19 at the Hospice House of Charles County.Born June 23, 1916 in Tower City, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph F. Kehler and Eva May Lins. Predeceased by his wife, Mary Savilla Hand, he is survived by two children, son James D. Kehler and his wife Marie, and daughter Mary L. Grant and her husband Paul; one granddaughter, Jennifer L. Mullaney and her husband James Michael; and three great-grandchildren, Maura Catherine, James Tristin and Madden Rose. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.Clyde proudly served in the 62nd Engineer Topographical Company of the Army of the United States during World War II. Battles and campaigns included Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. After the war ended, he served the U. S. Air Force at Bolling and Andrews Air Force bases as a civilian for over 30 years.He had a great love for his church family at Forest Memorial United Methodist Church, having served on the Board of Trustees there for over 50 years. He enjoyed bowling, fixing all things mechanical and fishing in Florida with his son most of all. Spending time with his children, grandchild and great-grandchildren always gave him great joy.Family and friends are invited to a viewing and service beginning at 12:30pm on Sunday, June 23, his 97th birthday, at Forest Memorial United Methodist Church.
