Connie Marie Stommel

Connie Marie Stommel age 74 of Lothian, Maryland passed away on February 16, 2022, at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a battle with cancer. She was born on November 29, 1947, in Fairmont, Minnesota to Virgil and Florence (Mannlein) Clark. She was the 2nd oldest of 8 children. Connie grew up in Fremont Nebraska and graduated from Bergan High in 1966. In August of 1966 she moved to Maryland to be a clerk with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She moved into an apartment in District Heights Maryland with several roommates. Not long after moving to Maryland she met Thomas Stommel. She married Thomas Stommel on September 29, 1970, in Fremont Nebraska. They were married for 51 years on their last anniversary. They have two daughters Wendy (Stommel) Lott and Elinor Stommel. After leaving the FBI as a clerk she sold children’s toys for KB Toy company. In 1980 she became a licensed realtor. In 2005 she started her own Franchise with Exit Reality. She has been the broker/owner of Exit 1 Stop Reality in Dunkirk, Maryland until the time of her death. She had over 42 years of real estate experience. She would work 24/7 for her clients. Each one of her clients became part of the family over the years. Connie was a caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to many. She took great pride in her family and traveled back and forth to Nebraska over the years for family events or to just visit. She enjoyed traveling in group trips with a very close group of friends. She often talked about going back to Aruba which was her favorite vacation spot. She loved spending time with family and friends. Connie lived the majority of her life in Huntingtown, MD. Over the years she would host the Annual Stommel Family Fun Day at their home in Huntingtown. She recently moved in with her daughter and son in law in Lothian MD. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and watching the birds, dogs, cats, and horses on the farm. She is survived by her husband Thomas Stommel; daughter Wendy (Stommel) Lott; Son-In-Law Brian Lott; daughter Elinor "Ellie" Stommel; mother, Florence (Mannlein) Clark; Sisters and brother Carol, Robert, Nancy, Patricia, Mary, Diane and Laurie; Sister-In-Law Shelley Sansbury; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her Father Virgil Clark. The family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on Friday February 25, 2022, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm and Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be private. There will be a celebration of Life after the services at Huntingtown VFD 4030 Old Town Rd, Huntingtown MD 20639.
