David A. Holt "Dave"\n \nComputer Specialist\n \nDavid A. Holt, 67, a computer specialist who retired from the National Weather Service, Silver Spring, in 2006 died of congestive heart and lung failure December 23, 2011.\n\nMr. Holt was born in the copper mining town of Morenci, AZ and grew up in Ft. Stockton, TX where he was well known as an all around star athlete in football, track, baseball and swimming.\n\nMr. Holt joined the Army in 1967. He served in Okinawa, Germany, Vietnam and at several U.S. bases. He was a helicopter repair instructor during the Vietnam War. His last assignment before retiring in 1983 was with the Patriot Misslie program, High Air Defense Branch at White Sands Missile Range, NM.\n\nHe received his Associate of Science Degree from the University of the State of New York in 1981.\n\nFrom 1984-1988 he was a Senior Combat Development Materiel Analyst with the Directorate of Combat Developments, Materiel, and Logisitics Division at Ft. Belvoir, VA where he conducted analysis of requirements and systems for the Army's Mine and Countermine Warfare Mission. In 1988 he moved to serve as a Management Analyst and Acting Head of the Facilities and Services Department, at the Washington Navy Yard.\n\nIn 1992, Mr. Holt joined the staff of the National Weather Service's Meteorological Development Lab as a Management Specialist and transitioned to the the job of Computer Specialist.\n\nMr. Holt moved to Temple Hills, MD in 1983. He enjoyed working around the home, duck and bird carving and collecting inkwells.\n\nSurvivors include his wife of 31 years, Frances C. Holt, two children, Kenneth Holt of Magnolia, TX, Christopher Holt of Montgomery, TX, two brothers, James Holt of Cisco, TX and Donald Holt of Prescott, AZ and nine grandchildren. \n\n
