On Wednesday, July 8, 2020, David A. Thacker, 54, of Lusby, MD, passed away into his eternal reward at the Burnett Calvert Hospice House in Prince Frederick. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Lynn, and his four children, Therese Diega, Jacinta Maria, Giesa Magdalena, and Kolbe Francisco Michael. Dave is also survived by his three brothers Darrin, (Angie), Alan (Sarah), Brian, and his step sister, Racheal King; his in-laws, Mary and John Benish and numerous nieces, nephews and one great-nephew. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother Edith Grubb and countless other relatives. “Dave” was born on October 13, 1965 in Dayton, OH, the son of David and Bernice Thacker, both who preceded him in death. After high school he served in the Navy for four years, then married the love of his life, Patricia Lynn Benish of Dunkirk on May 18, 1991. He was a dedicated Catholic and active parishioner of Holy Spirit in Forestville, St. Mary’s of Piscataway in Clinton and Jesus the Divine Word in Huntingtown. Dave was a quiet, gentle man who was a compassionate husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He worked for Monumental Sports and Entertainment for almost 20 years. He was there when the Capitals won the Stanley Cup in 2018. He was a well liked invaluable employee and hard worker; he will be missed by his co-workers. A viewing will be held at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on Wednesday, July 15 from 5 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Jesus the Divine Word Catholic Church, 885 Cox Road, Huntingtown, MD 20639 at 11 am. Interment will follow at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery, 1601 W. Mt. Harmony Road, Owings, MD 20736.
