V. R. "Mike" Maine, beloved husband, father, and Opa, departed this life on May 9, 2022. Born in Weirton, West Virginia, he was the son of Howard V. and Daisy (Ralston) Maine. He grew up on the family farm in Bloomingdale, Ohio. From 1944-1947, he served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a service manager for Sears for 42 years.. On January 23, 1947, he married Rosalie M. Nowery, who predeceased him in 2014.
Mike was a longtime member of Christ Episcopal Church in Clinton, Maryland. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah M. Hershman (James) of Leesburg, Virginia and his son, Michael W. Maine (Jenny) of Fredericksburg, Virginia, ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends. In 2019, he was predeceased by his brother George and sister-in-law Nancy.
The family will receive friends at the Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Road, Clinton, Maryland 20735, on Friday, May 20 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at Christ Episcopal Church in Clinton, Maryland on Saturday, June 18 at 11:00 a.m., with interment in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 8710 Old Branch Avenue, Clinton, Maryland 20735.
