Deborah Wood, 65, died peacefully Thursday, May 26. 2016 at her home in Camp Springs, Maryland. She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Floyd and Marian Traynham. Debby graduated from Oakton High School VA. and the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. After college, she began her teaching career in Prince George's County where she worked for 42 years, first as an elementary school teacher. Then in 2002 she began to teach Reading Recovery and devoted her life to helping children learn to read. She is survived by her husband Terrence; sisters Vicci Williams (Larry) and Lee Shattuck (John); neices Kelly (Sean) and Kimberly; nephew Nick; and grand-niece Parker. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 23, 2016 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 5416 Henderson Way, Camp Springs, MD at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established in Debby's name at the Reading Recovery Council of North America (R.R.C.N.A.) www.readingrecovery.org - please give her name when making the donation.
