MSgt DeWitt Brown, Jr., age 91, died and entered heaven on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at the Bradford Nursing Home in Clinton, Maryland. From his birth in Apalachicola, Florida on April 28, 1928, to his passing, he nourished people around him with love, faith, honesty and respect. He was orphaned at a very young age, never knowing his biological parents. His first foster parent, DeWitt Brown, was a widower to Irene Brown, who adopted and raised him until he was ten years old. In 1938, his foster parent, DeWitt Brown, died. His second foster parents were June Betts and Carrie Betts, raising him until high school graduation. After graduating from George Washington High School, Port St. Joe, Florida, in 1948, he entered military service in the Army Air Corps, later becoming the United States Air Force. He served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force Communications Squadron, stationed in several places around the world which included Washington, D.C., Maryland, Boston, Texas, Alaska, Germany, England and Thailand. He served honorably with distinction for 26 years, retiring on July 3, 1974, at Bolling AFB. As a civilian, he continued to work with Beckman Instruments, Inc. and later retired from Hechingers Company. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 68 years; Elvinie G. Brown, three sons; Jenista D. Brown, Roderick Brown and Gregory D. Brown; five grandsons, William Brown, Justin M. Brown, Damani B. Scott, Antonio J. Brown and Nicholas B. Brown; two granddaughters, Kimberly M. Brown and the late Kiayana L. Brown.
